GAFENCU MAIN CONFERENCE HALL - ROMANIAN MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS Bucharest, 1st District

Previous project Next project

The main aim of this intervention was updating this conference room that has not changed in almost 18 years, while providing new technical installations.

The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs made the  inquiry that the conference room should be used in two major scenarios: the first one, hosting 24 people around a main conference table, and the second one, hosting 135 people attending press conferences, annual general assembly meetings, performative activities, protocol meetings, official duty welcomings, official soirees etc.

In order to provide with the balance between the old and the new, the main focus of this restoration was the revival of the existing ceiling, dating from the first half of the 20th century. All of the other finishings were dismissed, thus revealing the many interventions the room has been through during these past 80 years.

The finishings of the walls are made out of walnut veneer, while the color palette reflects the inquiries of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania.
